My co-worker underwent an operation to have her gallbladder removed. She said as the anethsia wore off, she was in a semi-unconscious state and admitted being unfaithful to her husband. Is this ture? Can this really happen?

As a former anesthesia technician, yes it can happen. I would be very suprised if she remember doing it (in other words, I would be very suprised if she really said it). Lastly, whatever she did say is kept in confidence as the surgical team may or may not believe it, and they would not nor could not tell anyone.

Yes, it is possible, although due to HIPPA regulations all patient information is kept confidential. Medications that are given during and after surgery can definitely lower one's inhibition such that this may occur. Just remember, what is said in the O.R. Stays in the O.R. !NurseMom :)RN/BSN/CNOR (Operating Room Nurse)

It can happen, but almost never does. I guess if there's something that's preying on your mind, and you lose your inhibitions, you could say anything, same as if you were drunk. Most people say things like, "I'm going to throw up." or "It's done? Really?" as opposed to confessing infidelity.Nobody in the OR really cares if you cheat on your spouse or not, and we certainly wouldn't tell anyone if you did say something to that effect.
